Went over to Dots Printhaus to meet Johny and Joe with a friend that had already visited. They were really nice and I was even treated to a cup of Vimto whilst I petted the dogs. The studio was small but it was brilliantly decorated with posters, stickers and clippings which had been put up over time.
Although they were very busy I managed to ask them a few questions about how they came to be and set up the business. Johny actually used to work as a chef at Pizza Express, like myself, until about a year ago whilst he was setting up the studio with Joe.
They mostly take on print orders for T-shirt designs that other companies or individuals want but they do get work from printing posters or artwork and even collaborate on design work.
Recently a lot of new clothing labels have come to life in leeds and the creative aspect of retail, branding and printed clothing designs has really caught my eye. It's something I want to look into further and perhaps begin my own printing and selling of clothing.
I was a great visit, short but sweet and I'll definitely be going back in son to se what the boys are up to. I left them my business card which was exciting as it was the first one I've given out.
